People from over a dozen different countries are currently part of our church family at Durham Road Baptist Church.
The church has worked extensively with refugee/asylum seekers in the past (offering a drop-in facility, language classes
and international outings to local places of interest) and we still support several people whose applications are pending.
We seek to help all those from overseas - whether refugees/asylum seekers, students, or business people - feel as if DRBC is their home.

INTERNATIONAL OUTINGS
During 2003, 2004 and 2005, we ran a programme of day-trips to places of interest in Tyne and Wear
and beyond, once a month on Saturdays between March and September. These were particularly aimed at
people from overseas - to help them explore the area, get to know something of its local history, and
appreciate the rich cultural heritage of the Northeast.
Places we have visited recently include:
Cragside - a local National Trust house
Bamburgh Castle
York
Keswick in the Lake District
...and many more places of rich cultural and historical interest!
We still have funding for more outings (through Gateshead International Ministries) and would
be glad to recommence them if there was sufficient demand. Please contact Revd David Hunt
if you are interested.

INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIP TEAS
On the last Sunday of each month, we hold an International Fellowship Tea from 5.30-6.20pm. These often include a
talk from someone from overseas or from someone who has recently been overseas. Traditional foreign foods and smells aren't out of place either!
Please don't feel that you need to bring any food with you if you're just visiting - there's always plenty provided!
